| Position Summary: | Why work at Villanova?
The Aquatics Coordinator supports the daily operation of Villanova's natatoriums across all Villanova campuses, including Cabrini, by coordinating pool schedules, lifeguard staffing, safety systems, aquatic programming, and facility readiness. Working under the direction of the Director of Fitness & Recreation Aquatics, Operations & Risk Management, this role ensures that aquatic facilities and programs operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with University policies and regulatory standards. This position focuses on execution and coordination of aquatic operations, lifeguard workforce management, program delivery, and stewardship of resources that enable recreation, club sports, rentals, and varsity aquatic events to function smoothly. | Minimum Qualifications: | Formal Education • Bachelor's degree in Recreation Management, Sports Management, Physical Education, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. • First Aid, CPR, and AED certification (must be obtained within a specified period after hire). • PA Pesticide Applicator and Category 24 License (must be obtained within a specified period after hire). • Lifeguarding certification. (must either be active or previously held and then reactivated within a specified period after hire). Work Experience • 02 years of experience in aquatics, pool operations, athletics, campus recreation, or a related student-centered environment. • Relevant student employment, internships, or graduate assistantships in aquatics, recreation, or athletics may be counted toward experience. • Experience working in a customer-facing or student-facing environment. • Experience working as a lifeguard. Work Skills (e.g., written and verbal communication skills) • Strong customer service skills and the ability to engage effectively with a diverse campus community. • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. • Clear verbal and written communication skills. • Ability to prioritize tasks, adapt to changing operational needs, and make sound decisions in a dynamic facility environment. • Ability to work collaboratively and provide guidance to student employees. • Ability to learn recreation management systems and equipment tracking workflows. Specific Job Knowledge (e.g., knowledge of principles and procedures related to field and area) • Familiarity with pool operations, equipment, and basic aquatics safety practices. • Understanding of risk management and customer service expectations in recreational settings. • Commitment to student development, wellness, and fostering an inclusive and supportive environment. • Familiarity with pool mechanical systems or willingness to learn. Equipment Knowledge • Proficiency with standard computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, email, scheduling tools). Other: • Ability to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends based on facility needs. |
| Preferred Qualifications: | Formal Education • Bachelor's Degree. Work Experience • 12 years of experience in aquatics, pool operations, athletics, or campus recreation. • Experience supervising, mentoring, or training student employees. • Experience coordinating schedules or supporting time and attendance processes. • Experience supporting aquatic programs, lessons, rentals, camps, or on-site recreation events. Work Skills (e.g., written and verbal communication skills) • Demonstrated ability to lead student employees in a dynamic, customer-facing environment. • Experience coordinating logistics, schedules, or staffing in a facility-based operation. • Strong problem-solving skills in fast-paced, safety-sensitive environments. Specific Job Knowledge (e.g., knowledge of principles and procedures related to field and area) • Knowledge of recreation center and aquatic facility operations, including equipment safety and customer service standards. • Understanding of student development principles and effective practices for supporting student employees. • Familiarity with aquatics-related risk management, emergency response procedures, and safety protocols. • Knowledge of recreation management systems, check-in software, or facility scheduling platforms. • Familiarity with collegiate recreation best practices, including NIRSA standards. Equipment Knowledge • Familiarity with pool mechanical systems and aquatic facility equipment. • Familiarity with Daktronics, Colorado Time Systems, or similar aquatic timing and scoreboard systems. Other • Demonstrated engagement in professional development through conferences, workshops, or professional organizations such as NIRSA. |
| Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours: | Working Conditions/Environment: (conditions, if known, which may impact the incumbent working in this position) Environmental conditions: (any unusual/adverse conditions such as exposure to chemicals, noise, illumination, air quality, weather exposure etc.). a. Work is performed primarily in natatoriums and aquatic facilities and includes regular proximity to pools, water, pool chemicals, humidity, noise, and varying temperatures. b. Some duties may be performed in outdoor recreation areas and during varying weather conditions. Physical requirements: (items such as lifting, pushing, pulling, standing or sitting for extended periods of time, manual dexterity, walking etc.) a. Requires the ability to walk, stand, lift up to approximately 45 pounds, and move equipment throughout aquatic facilities, perform routine facility checks, and use standard office and pool-related equipment |

| Salary Posting Information: | This position falls within salaried grade 12 and the range for this position is $47,500-56,900. The final salary will be determined with consideration of several factors including the selected candidate's qualifications, department budget availability, market data, and internal equity. |
