Description
Performs technical work and conducts field inspections of building construction and interprets plan reviews to ensure compliance with the Florida Building Code, City codes, laws and ordinances. Work is performed under the direction of the Building Official.
Requirements
Inspects to determine that buildings and structures are constructed in accordance with the governing building codes, City codes and ordinances. Reviews, interprets and determines that construction specifications and plans submitted for purposes of obtaining building and other permits comply with the applicable City regulations, zoning codes, construction codes, laws and ordinances. Recognizes deviations from reviewed plans and specifications during the construction process and applies standard from the code. Explains, interprets and enforces regulations and codes with firmness, tact and impartiality to the general public, property owners, businesses, builders, contractors, and other interested parties. Exercises exceptional customer service skills and courtesy necessary to explain needs for successful plans review and inspection, and to assist customers in altering plans and/or construction methods to meet code requirements. Enters inspection results and comments into City-issued software in a timely manner. Performs other non-essential duties as required. Performs plan reviews as required.
