Description

The Building Inspector ensures new and existing residential, commercial and industrial structures comply with local, state, and federal codes (building, electrical, HVAC, fire, zoning). This position reviews construction plans, issue permits, conducts on-site inspections from foundation to occupancy, and enforces safety regulations through correction notices or stop-work orders. 

Requirements

Considerable knowledge of Zoning, Accessibility, Building, Fire, Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing codes, and interpret site, civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, construction plans and specifications and identify deviations from such plans in the field.

Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships at a professional level with building owners, design professionals, contractors, co-workers and the general public.

Ability to enforce all applicable regulations with tact, firmness and impartiality.
