Description
Under the direction of the Director of Community Development or designee, responsible for the enforcement of the Township Zoning Ordinance and various other codes and ordinances, including those related to public nuisance, health and safety and rental housing. Investigates complaints of alleged violations, seeks voluntary compliance through education and cooperation from those in violation of the ordinance and otherwise initiates enforcement action, including abatement, civil infractions and appearance tickets.
Requirements
Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent. Possession of a State of Michigan driver's license with good driving record. Must be able to pass State Certification for Soil Erosion and Sedimentation Control within one year of employment. One year of college level coursework in law enforcement or related field preferred. Some experience in municipal government or related setting providing familiarity with code enforcement. Prefer some prior experience relative to investigation of complaints, enforcement of codes or closely related capacity. Computer experience including Microsoft word and data entry.
