Job Summary:
Be part of an exciting APP position in critical care.
The Critical Care Advanced Practice Provider (APP) plays a vital role within the critical care team. Their primary responsibility is to manage high-acuity adult patients in a multidisciplinary critical care setting. The ICU team provides comprehensive critical care in collaboration with various consulting specialists.
Patients may be transferred from other floors or hospitals or admitted directly from the Emergency Department (ED) or the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). They may present with a range of conditions, including diabetic ketoacidosis, stroke, renal failure, respiratory failure, sepsis, gastrointestinal bleeding, oncologic/hematologic emergencies, electrolyte imbalances, hypertensive emergencies, ENT, neurological, and intra-abdominal surgeries.
The APP works closely with critical care intensivists, ICU hospitalists, residents, fellows, and fellow APPs to provide direct patient care in the ICU. APP responsibilities include performing physical exams, collecting and documenting data, performing approved diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, ordering and scheduling laboratory studies and consultations, and prescribing appropriate interventions and medications. Additionally, the APP may manage ICU consults in collaboration with attending physicians. The APP's role in critical care is to oversee and ensure that patients receive best-practice care.
Position is for rotating shifts, days/nights, and nights only are also available.
Training:
The Critical Care Service line provides a robust 6-month postgraduate training program in critical care, including ICU Procedural Competency and a didactic courses, along with required self-study and online study. Dedicated training in the use of ultrasound and various needed procedures, such as ultrasound-guided IV, central line insertion, and airway modalities, is also covered in the training program.
Clinical training may occur across multiple sites within our service line to ensure new APP hires receive the best and most comprehensive training.
This position is a great entry-to-practice position, and we welcome new-to-practice APPs.
We seek APPs who are highly motivated and driven, understand the rigors of critical care training, recognize the necessity of ongoing study, and are prepared for the work and learning this position requires.
Compensation:
The anticipated salary range for this position if hired to work is $150,000 to $200,000 per year.
The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate’s educational background, skills, and professional experience
Requirements:
- Master's prepared in Nursing from an accredited program with a focus on Adult Acute Care, must be either ACNP or AGACNP.
- Advanced Practice Nurse License, New Jersey State Board of Nursing.
- Licensed Registered Nurse in the state of New Jersey.
- CCRN preferred.
OR
- Graduate of an AMA accredited physician assistant (PA) program and licensed by the New Jersey Board of Medical Examiners.
Additional requirements: - Recommended high acuity/adult critical care experience.
- Experience with ultrasound IV and point-of-care ultrasound is desired
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Organizational ability, management, leadership and teaching skills.
- Needs to be Emergency Neurological Life Support (ENLS) certified within 90 days of hire
- Needs to be Fundamental Critical Care Support (FCCS) certified within 1 year of hire
