We are currently looking for a custodian join our team in Decatur, IL.
PURPOSE OF POSITION
Reporting to the Human Resources Manger, the custodian is responsible for performing all necessary daily janitorial and other miscellaneous duties in order to ensure that buildings and facilities are maintained in healthy, safe and sanitary manner.
Task and Responsibilities:
- Gather and empty trash throughout plant and office areas.
- Service, clean and supply break room including appliances.
- Service, clean and supply restrooms throughout plant and office areas.
- Clean foundry floors by manually sweeping and running floor sweeper.
- Clean office floors by manually sweeping, mopping, scrubbing or vacuuming.
- Blow down walls, lights and equipment with high pressured air.
- Clean and polish furniture, walls and fixtures.
- Clean windows, glass partitions and mirrors using soapy water or other cleaners.
- Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment.
- Notify managers concerning the need of major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
- Sweep sidewalks, entryways, and loading docks.
- Pick up litter and debris around the plant grounds and parking areas.
- Perform yard maintenance, including weed eating, trimming, and basic landscaping tasks.
- Maintain cleanliness in designated smoking areas and outdoor break zones.
- Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
- Adhere to Nortrak's Environmental, Safety and Quality Procedures, Practices and Policies.
Job Requirements (e.g. education, experience, skills and desired competencies)
- High School graduate or GED preferred.
- Previous janitorial or custodial experience preferred, especially in industrial or manufacturing settings.
- Ability to operate floor scrubbers, vacuums, weed trimmers, and other basic maintenance equipment.
- Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safe handling procedures (training provided).
- Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, performing repetitive tasks, and standing for extended periods.
- Willingness to follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE.
Physical Demands:
- Frequent standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and pushing, pulling, or lifting objects for the duration of your required schedule shift.
- Use hands and arms to operate tools, handle materials, and reach for the duration of your required scheduled shift.
- Regularly lift and carry 3035 pounds; occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Required vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
- Hearing abilities necessary to perform job tasks safely and effectively.
Working Location:

Salary:
- $20.80/hr - $22.85/hr
