Description
OverviewDirector of Agronomy will be responsible for revitalization of 18 hole golf course and transitioninig into long-term health and performance of the golf course, grounds, and infrastructure.
Experience Required
Must have: GCSAA Class A Certification preferred; NJ Pesticide Applicator License required

- Demonstrated leadership in Agronomy and turn management

Essential Responsibilities
Renovation & Project Leadership
- Construction Oversight: Direct all phases of course revitalization and restoration renovation, acting as the primary liaison between the grounds teams and contractors.
- Infrastructure Modernization: Lead major upgrades to irrigation systems, drainage networks, and maintenance facilities.
- Turf Establishment: Manage the "grow-in" process for new greens, tees, or fairways, ensuring soil health and turf maturity are prioritized during the transition.
Strategic Agronomic Management
- Long-Range Planning: Create a Property Improvement Plan (PIP) and multi-year capital forecasts for equipment and course infrastructure.
- Standard Elevation: Establish and implement new "best-in-class" maintenance programs for diverse turfgrass varieties (e.g., Bentgrass, Bermuda, Poa Annua) to achieve firm-and-fast playing conditions.
- Water Stewardship: Develop precision-based irrigation strategies, including ET modeling and moisture data integration, to optimize resource use.
Financial & Operational Excellence
- Capital Discipline: Carefully manage renovation budgets and annual operating expenses while evaluating ROI on all technology and infrastructure investments.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all chemical applications (fertilizers, pesticides) and water usage comply with local, state, and federal laws.
- Operational Discipline: Manage maintenance shop efficiency and machinery management.
Leadership & Communication
- Culture Transformation: Recruit and mentor a high-performing team, fostering a culture of "accountability, pride, and continuous improvement".
- Stakeholder Engagement: Actively participate in Board and Green Committee meetings to communicate agronomic risks, project progress, and financial implications.
- Member Education: Transparently explain the "why" behind disruptive agronomic practices (e.g., aerification or construction delays) through newsletters and on-course presence
