Evident experience with but not limited to the following: HD Cameras, HD Switchers, IP Based Intercom, Audio and Video Routers, Fiber optic transmission, cable termination and all aspects of television control room maintenance and engineering.
Position Summary
The Director of Broadcast Technologies/Chief Engineer will lead all technical and engineering operations for Georgia Athletics to deliver first-class broadcast experiences. The role provides hands-on and supervisory responsibility for installation, maintenance, and operation of control-room and venue-specific broadcast systems - with emphasis on linear and streaming television and in-venue videoboards, including all football events. This position oversees all control rooms and remote broadcast equipment, technical personnel, and vendor relationships, collaborating with network and large-screen personnel to deliver productions for UGAAA and SEC Broadcast Partners. The Director of Broadcast Technologies ensures the seamless transmission of high-quality audio and video signals across baseband and IP paths, manages complex signal flows during live productions, and executes in fast-paced live environments.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
Demonstrated ability and experience in the video industry, including experience in live television broadcast, live streaming and video board production. Expert understanding of broadcast control rooms, production staffing and familiarity with modern broadcast pathway and signal. Experience with but not limited to the following: HD Cameras, HD Switchers, IP Based Intercom, Audio and Video Routers, Fiber optic transmission, cable termination and all aspects of television control room maintenance and engineering. Familiarization with the following equipment: Ross Acuity and Carbonite production switchers, Sony HSC 300 R and HDC 3200/3500 Cameras, Evertz routing, Telecast and Evertz fiber converters, Evertz Bravo., Riedel Intercom, Ross Xpresision CG, and Evertz MIV . Ability to communicate proficiently with individuals within and outside the University. Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks. Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, good organizational skills and ability to interact with individuals at all levels.

Technical Operations & Live Support
- Provide oversight of daily operations and reliability of all UGAAA control rooms and remote broadcast locations; ensure optimal performance of equipment and infrastructure.
- Provides direct supervision of assigned staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, performance evaluation, and day-to-day oversight.
- Provide Tier-One production support during events to troubleshoot, resolve, and escalate signal or equipment issues in real time.
- Install, maintain, and operate control-room and venue-specific systems supporting linear and streaming television and in-venue videoboards for all sports.
- Serve as technical liaison for broadcast partners; schedule and coordinate control-room and remote productions to support multiple simultaneous broadcasts, ensuring required feeds are delivered.
- Provide direct engineering support for linear-level broadcasts and digital/streaming shows, ensuring camera, audio/intercom, replay, graphics, and transmission chains meet network specifications.
- Serve as department technical and operational lead for instant replay and ensure systems meet UGAAA and SEC .

- Establish and execute preventive maintenance, and emergency repair protocols for in-venue video, LED , scoring, and timing technologies.
- In partnership with Facilities, IT, and Capital Planning, create and maintain five- and ten-year strategic plans for control rooms, remote broadcast locations, and in-venue technologies; serve as point person for capital projects affecting current and future broadcast systems.
- Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation - including system and signal-flow diagrams, patch lists, device configurations, etc. - and an equipment inventory database, including service and repair history.

Equipment & Vendor Management
- Coordinate broadcast equipment purchasing, engineering contractors, vendors, and service providers; maintain service agreements, track costs, warranties, and service coverage.
- Ensure the security and stability of broadcast IT systems (control-room networks, servers, KVM ) including patching, access controls, network segmentation, backups, and incident response in coordination with central IT.
- Design, operate, and troubleshoot complex SDI and IP signal paths using industry-standard systems including Evertz routing/Multiview, Sony cameras/RCPs, Ross production switchers/graphics, DreamCatcher replay, and Riedel intercom.
- Oversee safe setup, breakdown, packing, and transport of broadcast equipment between venues; ensure appropriate protection and chain-of-custody.
- Coordinate engineering interfaces with visiting broadcast trucks
