- Electrical Building Inspector
Description
Working as an Electrical - Building Inspector, you will inspect electrical systems in residential and commercial buildings throughout construction, alteration, repair, and occupancy to ensure compliance with applicable electrical, building, and safety codes. This role includes reviewing electrical work at both preliminary and final stages of construction, coordinating with contractors and tradespeople to confirm adherence to approved plans, and requiring corrective action when violations are identified. As a Building Inspector, you will also collaborate with other inspectors, contractors, and property owners to interpret and apply electrical codes, laws, and ordinances, and inspect existing buildings and dwellings to ensure ongoing electrical safety and compliance with Town regulations.
Requirements
Here is what you must have to be considered for the position of Electrical - Building Inspector:
- High School diploma or GED supplemented by technical or college level courses in building construction, electrical, mechanical, or structural engineering or related areas
- Five (5) years experience in the building construction industry, skilled construction trades or in comparable code enforcement work
- Three (3) of which must be in the assigned area of responsibility i.e. electrical
- Valid Driver’s License
- Must obtain two (2) certifications from the International Code Council as a residential and/or commercial inspector in the assigned area of responsibility within twelve (12) months of employment and maintain certifications throughout employment.
