We are seeking a detail-oriented, proactive Electrical Prefabrication Engineer to join our manufacturing team. This individual will play a critical role in optimizing electrical manufacturing processes through prefabrication planning, estimating, logistics coordination, and supply chain management. The ideal candidate possesses a foundation in manufacturing, electrical systems, has relevant field experience, and demonstrates a passion for driving efficiency, quality, and safety in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Procurement Support
- Assist with quantity takeoffs and conceptual/schematic estimates for prefabricated components, which the team will review and approve.
- Support procurement by identifying material needs, specifications, and optimal sourcing strategies for prefab assemblies.
- Provide input to project budgets based on prefabrication scope and methods.
Facility Scheduling
• Work in coordination with our self-perform partners within the facility while maintaining high safety standards.
• Maintain and update the electrical prefabrications internal shop calendar for upcoming shipments, ensuring a smooth production workflow with respect to incoming and outgoing steel and concrete trucks.
Logistics & Coordination
- Coordinate the scheduling, packaging, and delivery of prefabricated materials to align with project timelines and site conditions.
- Work closely with procurement, vendors, and field teams to ensure timely and accurate deliveries, requiring regular communication to maintain accountability to the schedule and agreed-upon terms.
- Maintain a tracking system for prefab components and deliveries, identifying and resolving potential delays or bottlenecks, specifically with freight brokers and their subcontractors.
- Receive Request for Quotes (RFQ) from shipping and material vendors while managing information effectively.
Work Planning
- Define task sequencing, material staging strategies, and manpower requirements to optimize productivity and minimize rework within the prefabrication facility.
- Support the implementation of lean manufacturing principles to improve flow and reduce waste.
- Ensure prefabrication work plans incorporate inspection checkpoints and quality hold points before delivery to job sites.
- Coordinate with shop foremen, safety personnel, and quality control teams to ensure work plans account for safe workflows, ergonomic practices, and quality standards.
Production Efficiency & Process Improvement
- Evaluate current prefabrication workflows and develop standard operating procedures to improve quality, reduce waste, and enhance productivity.
- Identify and implement new tools, materials, and technologies to improve prefabrication output.
- Work with safety and quality control teams to ensure compliance with company and industry standards.
- Work with the superintendent and project manager to track production rate for reporting purposes using a custom-designed technology package
Quality & Process Improvement
• Perform quality control reviews of prefabricated assemblies to ensure compliance with project specifications and installation standards.
• Work with QA/QC teams to establish and uphold prefabrication quality assurance protocols.
• Identify areas for continuous improvement in prefabrication workflows to reduce rework and improve consistency.
• Implement lessons learned from previous projects and contribute to the standardization of prefabricated components.
• Conduct site visits to verify installation quality, gather feedback, and identify areas for improvement.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Industrial, Systems, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, Supply Chain Management or related field required.
- Interest in renewable energy, manufacturing, supply chain, construction, or electrical systems.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite; exposure to tools like Bluebeam, AutoCAD, or Revit is a plus.
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic team environment.
- OSHA 10 certification preferred (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
Work Environment:
- Seated in Chandler office, exposure to prefabrication shop and field settings.
- Occasional travel to job sites required.
