Description
The Town of Danvers welcomes applicants for the full-time, benefited positions within its Electrical Engineering Division for the following: Systems Engineer, Senior Electric Distribution Engineer, Electrical Distribution Engineer and Electric Engineer. The Town of Danvers is looking to fill two vacant positions.
The Electric Division has received the Diamond Level Reliable Public Power Provider (RP3) national designation from the American Public Power Association. This prestigious designation recognizes Danvers Electric for providing the highest degree of reliable and safe electric service to our customers - only the top 15% of the nation's public power utilities hold an RP3.
The Electric Division is constantly making reliability improvements to the grid with new equipment, wire, and poles to avoid failure from aging infrastructure. We have a dedicated staff of engineers, lineworkers, and technicians to make sure the lights stay on, but if they do go out, we get them back on as quickly as possible!
These are union positions that work 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
- Electrical Engineer pay scale starts at $54.15 hourly with a max step of $68.24 hourly.
- Electrical Distribution Engineer pay scale starts at $60.75 hourly with a max step of $74.33 hourly.
- Senior Electric Distribution Engineer pay scale starts at $63.16 hourly with a max step of $80.37 hourly.
- Systems Engineer pay scale starts at $70.43 hourly with a max step of $91.37 hourly.
Additionally, per the bargained contract, these positions qualify for an additional compensation of 87.5 hours rolled into annual salary.
The team is made up of 6 full-time positions who all report to the Assistant Electric Utility Director. The Division supports career pathways that allow team members to grow skill sets and advanced positions as they meet the required criteria.
In the coming year the Electric Division will be undertaking a number of projects that this position will be involved in. These projects include:
Building two new substations
Working with ISO-NE on 115kV interconnection to get ready for future load growth
Working on various carbon-free generation projects and interconnections
Designing and building new circuits to help promote responsible electrification including electric vehicle and heat pump adoption
Working on various resiliency projects including large capacity battery storage

Requirements
B.S. in Engineering required - Electrical discipline with specialty in power systems strongly preferred. M.S. Power Systems or related preferred. Based on years and type of experience, potential candidates will typically qualify as one of four positions: Electrical Engineer (0-2 years exp), Distribution Engineer (3-5 years exp), Senior Distribution Engineer (5-7 years exp), or Systems Engineer (7-10+ years exp).
35 hours per week, our engineering team is responsible for system planning, construction design, customer requests, and switching and operations. Within a 14 square mile service territory we serve 13,500 customers via 200+ circuit miles of 22,900 and 4,160V primarily OH. Seasoned staff serve as Control Authority and receive on-call compensation.
