Description

The Village of Morton Grove is seeking a skilled and dependable Equipment Operator to join our Public Works team. This full-time position involves operating a variety of light and heavy equipment to support the maintenance and improvement of Village infrastructure.

We are looking for someone with hands-on experience in equipment operation, a strong understanding of safety procedures, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. The ideal candidate will be committed to public service and capable of responding to emergencies when needed.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Operating equipment such as front-end loaders, backhoes, vactor sewer trucks, dump trucks (CDL B), street sweepers, and more.
Performing manual labor including excavation, grading, and infrastructure repairs.
Hauling materials and debris, and delivering to designated sites.
Participating in snow removal and ice control operations.
Conducting routine maintenance on equipment and reporting unsafe conditions.
Adhering to all safety and risk management protocols.

Requirements

Has at least one year of experience operating automotive and heavy equipment.
Possesses a valid Class “B” CDL and can respond to emergencies 24/7.
Demonstrates strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Is familiar with public works operations and safety procedures.
Has working knowledge of Microsoft Office and can read technical manuals and maps.
Is physically capable of lifting and moving heavy materials and working in varied weather conditions.
