Description
The Town of Wellesley Department of Public Works is seeking a Health and Safety Program Manager to develop, implement, and oversee safety and health initiatives across all DPW divisions. The incumbent reviews and analyzes work environments, establishes programs and policies to prevent workplace injuries and illnesses, and ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations.
Reporting to the Director of Public Works, this position works closely with DPW managers, employees, and other Town departments to develop and implement programs that promote a safe and healthy work environment. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining safety programs and training, conducting inspections and audits, investigating incidents, and coordinating Safety Committee activities.
Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Industrial Hygiene, Safety Management, Engineering, or a related field, and at least two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have working knowledge of OSHA standards, DOT/FMCSA regulations, and a valid Class D driver’s license. Strong communication and computer skills are essential.
Preferred qualifications include familiarity with public works or municipal operations and relevant safety certifications (e.g., CSP, ASP, CIH, OHST, CHST, STS, or CSHO).
Salary range: $74,970 - $101,210, DOQ.
