HR Coordinator
Location: Halifax, NS (Provincial Office)
Compensation: $31.21 – 38.89
Hours: 70 hours biweekly

About the Role
Reporting to the People and Culture Manager, the HR Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day recruitment operations and supporting the full recruitment lifecycle across the organization. This role works closely with the People and Culture Manager and hiring managers to support workforce needs, coordinate recruitment activities, and ensure a smooth and consistent hiring process. The HR Coordinator brings a proactive and continuous improvement mindset to recruitment operations, contributing ideas and recommendations to enhance recruitment processes, tools, and candidate experience.
In addition to recruitment, the role supports core HR operations, including performance management processes, leave management, responding to staff inquiries, and contributing to HR systems and improvement projects.
What You’ll Do
Recruitment & Talent Acquisition
- Coordinate the day-to-day full-cycle recruitment process across the organization.
- Work closely with the People and Culture Manager and hiring managers to support workforce needs and recruitment planning.
- Manage job postings, candidate screening, interview coordination, and offer processes.
- Assist with maintaining and improving recruitment processes, tools, and candidate experience.
- Contribute to recruitment initiatives by bringing forward suggestions to improve efficiency, outreach, and candidate engagement.
HR Operations
- Support performance management processes, including documentation.
- Coordinate onboarding and offboarding activities.
- Support leave management.
- Respond to employee HR inquiries.
- Maintain accurate and consistent employee and recruitment data across HR systems and platforms.
- Ensure timely and accurate filing, record retention, and documentation practices.
- Contribute to HR projects related to data, reporting, system improvements, and process efficiency.
What You Bring
- Post-secondary education in a related field; working toward CPHR designation.
- 2+ years of related experience.
- Strong interest in recruitment and talent acquisition.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and maintain data with a high level of accuracy and consistency.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- High attention to detail and professionalism.
- Comfortable taking ownership of work, proactively identifying opportunities for improvement, and bringing forward ideas.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with HRIS an asset.
Assets
- Experience in not-for-profit and/or unionized environments.
- Working knowledge of BambooHR or similar HRIS platforms.
