Summary
Reports to the Maintenance Manager. Responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of buildings and grounds, including floors, bathrooms, and trash pick-up.
Essential Functions
1. Performs refuse collection and disposal.
2. Performs general landscaping.
3. Performs ground maintenance.
4. Performs minor repairs on plumbing, heating, and air conditioning equipment.
5. Performs minor repairs on electrical wiring, lights (incandescent and fluorescent), control switches, and other electrical items.
6. Performs or assists in minor construction projects (e.g., shelves, storage bins, counters, workbenches).
7. May perform minor roofing repairs or maintenance.
8. Moves furniture and equipment.
9. May drive center vehicles.
10. Performs general building cleaning to include floor-sweeping, waxing, and polishing; window washing; dusting; washroom cleanup; and refuse collection and disposal.
11. Performs and directs preventive maintenance activities.
12. Ensures cleanliness and sanitation of buildings and grounds, including floors, bathrooms, and trash pick-up.
13. Tests fire and intrusion alarms; reports malfunctions.
14. Inform the Maintenance and Safety Managers of unsafe practices and conditions.
15. Works alongside Safety Department to address safety concerns noted during regular work/patrols through buildings and grounds to ensure the safety of buildings and property by checking doors, windows, lights, electrical appliances, equipment, locks, and emergency equipment.
16. Identifies and reports environmental health and safety concerns to the Maintenance Manager and the Safety Coordinator.
17. Updates the Maintenance log of findings and corrective actions taken regarding safety concerns and abatement of deficiencies.
18. Equips each area with proper maintenance tools and janitorial supplies.
19. Provides instruction in the use and care of these maintenance tools.
20. Models, mentors, and monitors the positive normative culture of the center.
21. Acts as a responsible custodian for the assigned center property.
22. Reports violations of unethical behavior.
23. Suggests opportunities for continuous operational improvement and reduction of waste.
24. Identifies and reports on environmental health and safety concerns found while conducting the work of the Maintenance Department.
25. Able to maintain a 75% or higher on employee scorecard.

Required Education & Experience
• One year of experience in general building maintenance, including exposure to plumbing, heating, air conditioning, carpentry, electricity, and/or general building and grounds maintenance works
Certifications/Competencies
• Ability to use hand and power tools.
• Ability to promote the Career Success Standards (CSS) by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students when necessary, and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions.
• Strong organizational skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Minimum Eligibility Qualifications
• If the position requires driving, a valid driver's license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record is required.
• I-9 documentation required to verify authorization to work in the United States.
• Successfully passes a pre-employment (post offer) background check and drug test.
