Responsibilities
- Serve as a technical leader, leveraging expertise in Six Sigma methodologies and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to drive design excellence.
- Lead New Product Development (NPD) initiatives, delivering successful product launches from concept to production.
- Ensure compliance with agency approvals and execute robust product validation processes.
- Develop and implement test plans, including comprehensive data analysis to validate design integrity.
- Design and build test rigs for product validation and performance testing.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with stakeholders to define mechanical design requirements and provide support for electrical engineering needs.
- Perform detailed mechanical design and analysis, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Create accurate CAD models and engineering drawings to support manufacturing and documentation.
- Communicate project progress and technical updates effectively to internal stakeholders.
- Contribute to intellectual property development, supporting the patent process as required.
Qualifications
- Proven ability to translate customer and business requirements into innovative solutions that deliver significant value.
- Six Sigma Black Belt certification or equivalent expertise in process improvement.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Demonstrated creative problem-solving skills and a customer-focused mindset.
- Extensive experience in plastic product and component development, including knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and performance characteristics.
- Ability to design equipment and electro-mechanical systems to meet functional and safety requirements.
- Familiarity with third-party testing agencies (e.g., UL, CSA) and their role in safety equipment development.
- Knowledge of Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles, including automation considerations.
- Demonstrated success in managing multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation related to products and processes.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with internal teams and external customers on both technical and non-technical topics.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, coupled with strong interpersonal, analytical, and project management skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office, SolidWorks, and advanced engineering analysis tools (e.g., FEA, Cycle Fatigue, Tolerance Analysis), as well as BOM management systems.
- BSEE or BSCE or relevant technical discipline, preferably from an ABET accredited program.This position is available at three different career levels based upon experience, education, etc.:
