Job Summary
The School of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, GA, invites applications for a full-time non-tenure track, 12-month faculty position in the Academic Professional promotion track. The applicant is expected to teach undergraduate Biochemistry courses and maintain a 50% administrative load supporting undergraduate education and student success. Applicants will be considered at both the Academic Professional and Senior Academic Professional ranks, depending on experience. Candidates are expected to demonstrate an exceptional commitment to the teaching and mentoring of students. Applicants with an interest in evidence-based instructional methods and chemical education research are encouraged. We can accommodate a start date that aligns with the Fall 2026 or Spring 2027 semester.
Responsibilities
The successful applicant will: (1) teach 6-credit hours each Fall and Spring semester and one 3-credit hour course in the summer. These courses will be primarily undergraduate Biochemistry lecture and/or Biochemistry seminar, and in some semesters First-Year Chemistry (2) Serve as a coordinator for multi-section Biochemistry courses, and (3) serve as an academic advisor for undergraduate students. The applicant will join a vibrant team of Academic Professionals. Collaboration with other faculty on curricular developments is highly encouraged.
Required Qualifications
Academic Professional:
A terminal degree
Significant related experience or promotion from the rank of Associate Academic Professional
The quality of performance and potential for development must be recognized by peers.
Senior Academic Professional:
A terminal degree
Evidence of superior performance in the chosen field
Recognition by peers (whether national, regional, or local)
Successful and measurable related experience
Five (5) years or more as an Academic Professional
Preferred Qualifications
An earned doctorate in biochemistry or related field at the time employment starts, along with a record of peer reviewed publications in biochemistry, biophysics, molecular biology or a related area is required.
Student Success Criteria
The ability to teach and mentor a multifaceted student body
The ability to mentor and assist students interested in pursuing graduate education
The ability to design and teach curricula that are responsive to all students
The ability to engage in high-impact practices that support deep learning for student success
