Description
The Opportunity:
The UCF Building Department is looking for a Plans Examiner I. This position is responsible for performing code reviews and inspections in University facilities in compliance with the Florida Building Code. This position is designated as an Emergency Essential Personnel.
Responsibilities:
Review construction plans and specifications for compliance with adopted building, mechanical, plumbing, and/or electrical codes; prepare written approvals or rejections in accordance with applicable standards.
Conduct onsite construction inspections to verify compliance with approved plans and codes; coordinate corrective actions and perform followup inspections as needed.
Document plan review comments, inspection results, violations, and corrections using permit tracking software and maintain accurate inspection records.
Approve construction materials, methods, and installations to ensure compliance with adopted codes and standards.
Serve as a departmental representative and subjectmatter resource to architects, engineers, contractors, and subcontractors; perform related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 4+ years of relevant work experience in construction, design or inspections of buildings as supervisor or contractor.
Must possess minimum of 1 inspector license and 1 plans examiner license or receive an inspector Certification within 6 months of hire and full licensure (2 total) within one year of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in municipal or agency inspection, preferably in mechanical, electrical, or plumbing inspection.
