Our Plant Maintenance Engineer Helper positions will assist the MnDOT Metro District Oakdale Plant Maintenance Engineer and the MnDOT Metro District Golden Valley Plant Maintenance Engineer in performing skilled operation, maintenance and repair of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, equipment and other mechanical systems. The individual in this position will also:
- Assist the Plant Maintenance Engineer in performing building construction maintenance and repair, and grounds maintenance as required.
- Assist the plumber and electrician as necessary so that services are provided in a safe and efficient manner.
NOTE TO APPLICANTS: The incumbent in this position is required to be immediately accessible to a phone and be able to report to work within one (1) hour of being called.
Requirements
Here are the Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience operating and maintaining heating, plumbing, ventilation and electrical systems and auxiliary appliances.
- Skill in the use of hand tools of the trade sufficient to make adjustments and simple repairs to equipment and assist in the making of major repairs and alterations.
- Experience with building and grounds maintenance and construction practices.
- Valid Class D Driver's License.
If advanced to the finalist pool, you will be assessed on the following criteria during a job interview:
- Knowledge of safety and accident prevention measures and practices.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to accurately relay concerns and problems incurred with equipment to service contractors and supervisor.
