The City of Everett is accepting applications on an appointive basis for the position of Plant Maintenance Supervisor in the City’s Public Works Department. The vacancy is from the Water Pollution Control Facility in Everett.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Under the direction of the Operations Maintenance Manager, supervise maintenance activities at a treatment plant to ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations. Responsibilities include supervision over installation, maintenance and repair of all plant electrical and mechanical equipment, instrumentation, and buildings, structures and associated grounds. Work is reviewed on the basis of results obtained and effectiveness of maintaining Washington State Department of Health (DOH) and NPDES permit compliance. Supervision is exercised over a staff of plant maintenance technicians and utility laborers.

Job Responsibilities:
- Coordinate ongoing capital improvement projects with construction management.
- Ensure structured annual preventative maintenance program is effective.
- Oversee maintenance contracts, internal service requests, and corrective or emergency services and repairs.
- Prepare maintenance reports and audits. Evaluate and review status of ongoing plant studies and projects related to plant equipment and facilities.
- Review, provide input, and coordinate ongoing capital improvement projects with engineering group and construction management.
- Obtain resources necessary for related work groups to adequately perform their duties, including necessary supplies, tools, equipment, etc.
- Prepare and distribute maintenance and staff schedules, utilizing resources in the most cost-effective manner while ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and internal processes.
- Utilize and maintain the City’s computer-based maintenance management program.
- Coordinate all plant process related maintenance tasks with plant operators and Plant Manager.
- Conduct informational and collaborative meetings to assess equipment performance, project status and planning efforts. Communicate the goals and philosophies of the division to other city departments, outside agencies, and the general public.
- Train and coach employees in adhering to policies and procedures; act as a liaison with operations supervisor, other Public Works crews, citizens and other agencies. Provide suggestions for effective collaborations and facilitate inter-departmental communication.
- Monitor and enforce all safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices in accordance with the Employee Safety and Health Policy, Public Works & Engineering Accident Prevention Plan, and all associated topic programs including the Electrical Safe Work Program, Permit-Required Confined Space, Silica Exposure Control, Lockout Tagout Tryout, and Respiratory Protection.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
A combination of education and related experience may substitute for education requirements.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field AND
- 4 years’ experience supervising multi-craft personnel in an industrial setting (preferably in water and/or wastewater treatment)
- OR 8 years’ experience in journey-level craft or engineering including four years as a supervisor or lead of technical (mechanical and electrical) personnel in an industrial setting.
- Possession of or ability to obtain a Washington State Driver’s License.
