Description

Strategic Analysis, Inc. is seeking a Principal Engineer, Modeling & Simulation to provide technical leadership in the design, execution, and application of advanced modeling, simulation, and analysis capabilities supporting mission-critical defense, cyber, and complex systems programs. This role combines deep engineering expertise with systems-level insight and leadership across large, multidisciplinary teams operating in classified environments. The ideal candidate will have a proven record of integrating modeling and simulation into operational decision-making, program execution, and technology transition efforts, with experience spanning cyber, mission systems, and physical infrastructure.
 
Responsibilities:

· Serve as the technical authority for modeling and simulation across complex cyber, mission, and infrastructure systems.
· Architect and lead simulation frameworks that support system development, operational evaluation, and strategic decision-making.
· Design and oversee simulation experiments to inform requirements development, force design, and investment decisions.
· Integrate cyber effects modeling into mission-level, campaign-level, and force-structure analyses.
· Establish and lead model-based systems engineering (MBSE) efforts to document and analyze physical and digital system architectures.
· Translate stakeholder needs into technical requirements, modeling assumptions, and validated analytical products.
· Guide transition of advanced modeling and simulation capabilities from research and rapid acquisition into operational sustainment.
· Provide technical leadership to large, cross-functional teams including engineers, analysts, and software developers.
· Author and review technical reports, requirements documents, strategy papers, and peer-reviewed publications.
· Support accreditation of classified information systems through analytical documentation contributing to ATO and ATC processes.
 
Requirements: 

· PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
· 15+ years of experience in modeling & simulation, systems engineering, or advanced technical analysis roles.
· Demonstrated leadership of large technical teams (50+ personnel) on high-value, complex programs.
· Hands-on experience with:
o Modeling and simulation of cyber, mission, or complex engineering systems
o MATLAB and/or FORTRAN
o Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
· Strong background in requirements development, simulation experiment design, and analytical validation.
· Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to senior leaders, customers, and non-technical stakeholders.
 
Desired: 

· Experience supporting DoD, DARPA, or other national security research and development organizations.
· Background in cyber operations modeling or multi-domain mission analysis.
· Experience deploying and integrating modeling tools within classified information systems.
· Defense acquisition, program management, or requirements oversight experience.
· Operational or expeditionary experience with unmanned or advanced mission systems.
