Job Summary
The Project Engineer is responsible for leading the technical aspects of projects, including solution development, system architecture, and the design and implementation of real-time software and hardware systems, particularly for training environments. This role provides technical leadership, coordinates engineering activities, and ensures project requirements are met within scope, schedule, and budget.
Essential Job Functions
Develop technical solutions that meet system requirements.
Facilitate effective communication between engineering teams, program management, and other departments.
Review requirements and create architectural solutions for hardware and software systems.
Design, analyze, and implement real-time systems for training devices.
Schedule and oversee daily workload of engineering teams and supervise assigned engineers.
Conduct regular status meetings with engineering and production teams.
Identify scheduling conflicts and provide recommendations to improve timelines and resource allocation.
Develop Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) to organize project development.
Participate in technical reviews and present project updates, documenting action items and discrepancies.
Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure project goals are achieved within budget and timeline.
Perform system testing, including on-site and pre-release testing.
Support proposal development, including responses to RFPs, RFIs, and other technical documentation.
Prepare training and effort estimates for customers.
Safely handle equipment and adhere to operational requirements, including standard and extended work schedules.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Broad knowledge of simulation systems, including hardware and software components.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to recommend effective solutions.
Self-motivated with the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
Ability to work collaboratively and follow guidance from engineering leadership.
Eligibility to obtain required security clearance.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline with at least five (5) years of experience; or
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science with at least seven (7) years of experience; or
High school diploma (or equivalent) with at least nine (9) years of relevant engineering experience.
Advanced degree in engineering preferred.
