Position Description
The primary function of this position is to safely test and inspect road construction materials to determine whether their characteristics, properties and quality meet or exceed the standards and specifications required by our customers.
Essential Functions:
- Adheres to all safety rules and works safely on all tasks.
- Ability to work with other members of the team and communicate effectively and efficiently with QC personnel, plant operators and the plant manager.
- Perform testing in accordance with ASMG's quality control system and other applicable standards such as ASTM, AASHTO, and DOT.
- Testing and inspection of road construction materials, specifically liquid asphalt products including cutback, emulsion sealants and others.
- Develop a working knowledge of product optimization and specification compliance for all applicable liquid products.
- Document results accurately, reporting will be organized, accurate and completed in a timely manner.
- Ensure that the lab is organized, cleaned on a daily basis.
- Analysis of test data and corrective action to prevent non-conforming products.
- Regular care, calibration, and maintenance of testing equipment.
- Flexibility with regard to schedule, working early and/or extended hours, and weekends when required.

Position Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- A technical background is preferred with strong communication, organizational, mathematical and computer skills.
- A technical degree is a plus.
- Must be able to comprehend MSDS sheets, DOT specifications, policy guidelines and standard operating procedures.
- Will be required to have a valid driver's license and pass a physical and drug screen.
Work Conditions
Primarily quality control lab environment, indoors, with additional outdoor activities as requested by the Auburn Asphalt QC manager. Will take samples from storage tank and takers.

The employee must be able to push levers forward and backwards. The employee is required to stand, walk, climb stairs, stoop, bend, twist, kneel and crouch. Employee may sit for an hour or more at a time.
