Job Summary
The Registered Nurse provides both direct and indirect patient care within the Medical/Surgical environment. This role requires strong clinical judgment, effective communication with physicians, leadership, and the ability to respond rapidly to changes in patient condition. The RN is responsible for initiating the computerized Plan of Care upon admission and may provide general nursing support across multiple departments with appropriate supervision.
Note: Specific departments may require additional certifications or specialized responsibilities.

Essential Job Functions
The Registered Nurse must be able to:
Perform a wide variety of tasks, transitioning efficiently between different types of duties.
Take responsibility for planning, directing, and controlling assigned activities.
Make sound evaluations and decisions based on verifiable criteria.
Work independently with minimal supervision.
Maintain strict patient confidentiality.
Demonstrate empathy, compassion, and appropriate emotional support to patients experiencing pain, trauma, or grief.
Foster teamwork and cooperation in daily interactions.
Communicate effectively with individuals from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds.
Incorporate guest relations and service excellence into daily tasks.
Provide age-specific, cultural, physical, and psychosocial care tailored to each patient.
Requirements
Qualifications
Education
Required:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Current RN license; BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
Ongoing continuing education aligned with skill level and practice area.
Additional certifications such as IV certification or Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI) may be required depending on department.
Preferred:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Experience
Required:
None.
Preferred:
Previous clinical experience.
Physical Requirements
The RN must be able to:
Hear and communicate effectively, with or without assistive devices.
See and visually assess patients and objects accurately.
Use hands and arms for a variety of clinical tasks including grasping, lifting, and manipulating equipment.
Perceive temperature, texture, size, and other physical attributes of objects.
Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and maintain continuous walking and standing.
Lift up to 50 pounds, with frequent movement of objects up to 25 pounds.
Occasionally lift items over 50 pounds.
Distinguish and identify color variations.
