Assisted Living Manager/RN Delegating Nurse - Charge Nurse
STATUS: Exempt, salary, full-time, 30 hours or more per week
REPORTS TO: Administrator & Director of Health Services
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The AL Mgr/RN Delegating Nurse is responsible for the overall nursing care/service on his/her shift, including the accurate and timely administration of medications, treatments, documentation and emergency calls, as indicated. All job duties are to be performed in accordance with established standards as described in the Quality Assurance Manual for the department.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
Primary Job Duties:
1. Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families and staff. Must use prudent judgment and work well under pressure. Strong organizational skills. Ability to work well independently.
2. Check Staffing – Address any staff lateness and leave info for DOHS.
3. Report – read 24 hour report and communication book, initial and date communication book.
4. Make rounds – Make visual rounds of unit – See any sick residents first, check all O2 for correct rate, look for safety – alarms, medications in room, call lights in place etc, infection control – tubing labeled, briefs not in trash cans, bags in trash cans, resident care-positioning, room cleanliness. Address any concerns with staff.
5. Check medication room for complete QA audits, expired meds, dated opened vials.
6. Conduct documented review of any admission from the day before. Complete all outstanding documents. Notify DOHS of any concerns with admission process.
7. Follow up with any family concerns – leave info for DOHS/SS.
8. Any admission that come in on weekend are to be done by the supervisor.
9. Conduct audit of all skin assessment sheets that should have been completed during the week. Complete any that were not done. Leave written list for DOHS of any that you had to complete.
10. Audit monthly summary list for needed completion. Leave list of any omissions for DOHS.
11. Complete Health Care Practitioner Forms & 45 Day Assessments. Audit for completion of Quarterly assessments per calendar. Leave list of any omissions for DOHS
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Registered Nurse with a current license in Maryland.
2. Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families and staff. Must use prudent judgment and work well under pressure. Strong organizational skills. Ability to work well independently.
3. Ability to document care given accurately.
4. Ability to communicate effectively in English and perform simple arithmetic
