Job Summary
The Electrical Engineering Project Manager is responsible for managing complex and high-impact capital improvement projects related to treatment plant electrical and power systems. This role leads projects through all phases including planning, design, and construction while coordinating multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders. The position serves as a technical authority in industrial electrical engineering, ensuring system reliability, regulatory compliance, and uninterrupted operation of critical infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Manage complex, politically sensitive, and/or large-scale treatment plant capital improvement projects through all project phases
Lead and supervise multi-division project teams and coordinate with external agencies and stakeholders
Provide electrical and power engineering expertise in support of treatment plant project delivery
Develop scopes of work and manage consultant and professional services agreements, including contract initiation, administration, and closeout
Serve as a technical expert in electrical engineering, including on-site troubleshooting and oversight of complex electrical shutdowns during construction
Schedule, lead, and participate in project meetings focused on electrical and power design elements
Mentor, train, and supervise engineering and technical staff
Review, prepare, and approve engineering studies, reports, designs, and contract documents for compliance with electrical engineering standards
Stamp and/or sign electrical engineering documents, assuming professional responsibility for assigned projects
Ideal Experience
Six (6) years of professional experience designing, maintaining, and managing industrial electrical systems in an operating environment
At least two (2) years of experience in a lead or supervisory engineering role
Demonstrated experience leading full-cycle industrial electrical distribution projects without disrupting mission-critical operations
Experience troubleshooting, repairing, and upgrading industrial electrical distribution systems (hardware and software)
Proven ability to collaborate across planning, design, and construction teams to ensure compliance with electrical engineering standards
Experience developing technical policies, procedures, and recommendations for continuous improvement
Skills and Abilities
Strong planning, organization, and project monitoring skills
Effective supervision and leadership capabilities
Advanced technical expertise in quality assurance and quality control of electrical engineering deliverables
Requirements
Knowledge Requirements
Comprehensive knowledge of industrial electrical distribution systems, including computer-based monitoring and control systems
Advanced principles and practices of electrical distribution system design and installation
Electrical distribution engineering theory and design concepts
Expertise in industrial electrical distribution networks
Knowledge of network administration principles related to electrical systems
Experience with hardware and software system design, development, and implementation
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution
Licensure
Active and valid Professional Electrical Engineer (PE) license issued by the appropriate state licensing authority
