SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER
Founded in 1987, RAND Engineering & Architecture, DPC is an employee-owned 115+ person Manhattan-based firm that designs, specifies, and administers restoration, upgrade, and adaptive re-use programs on behalf of owners, managers, and co-op and condo boards.
We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer for our MEP team. Candidate should have experience in HVAC and Plumbing Systems, and Fire Protection Systems.
Candidate will be responsible for overall management of Design Projects, performing Mechanical Design including HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical and Fire Protection, ensuring project milestones are met on time and on budget, supervising project engineers, providing estimated design hours and staffing for proposals, interacting with clients and various contracting agencies to verify scopes of work and to ensure contract requirements are being fulfilled.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Develop design and technical solutions through all phases of a mechanical, plumbing and fire protections system upgrade project, from feasibility to construction documentations
Survey and perform detail observations of exiting building systems
Prepare scopes of work and preliminary budget pricing per project requirements
Determine HVAC load, specs, sizing equipment, ductwork, and piping
Develop a design set of engineering plans for bid solicitation, construction and Department of Building filing
Coordinate, oversee and review draft documents sets prepared by junior staff and draftspersons
Administer MEP upgrade construction projects, from commencement, to weekly progress reviews, punch-list, and sign-off
Conduct site visits during the construction phase. NYC Special Inspection and Progress Inspection experience is preferred but not required. Travel to and from job sites generally located within the NYC Metro area from RAND's office.
Interact with clients, contractors, and vendors. Attend client meetings virtually or in -person upon request.
Prepare written reports and studies of mechanical and plumbing systems on topics such as performance evaluation and feasibility studies.
Education and Experience:
7+ years of experience in residential and commercial projects, particularly multi-family buildings in the NYC Metro area.
Job Requirements:
Strong mechanical, plumbing and fire protection design experience and technical knowledge
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to produce a project from programming through design and construction administration, in a team environment
Experience with construction administration of projects, including shop drawings review, site visits and reports.
