Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Associate-level developer to join our Risk Reporting development team, specializing in Athena Python and Databricks SQL. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Python and SQL, with proven experience in developing and performance tuning major SQL dialects (such as Oracle). Experience with third-party SQL-based reporting platforms (e.g., Cognos, Tableau) is a plus.This role focuses on sourcing data from various internal to Market Risk and Firmwide systems, integrating it into robust reporting solutions, and applying controls to ensure the accuracy and reliability of risk data used in reporting. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to think beyond routine approaches, proactively identify hidden problems, and contribute to a culture of innovation and inclusion.
Job responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain risk reporting solutions using Athena Python and Databricks SQL.
- Optimize and tune SQL queries for performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Collaborate with risk analysts and business stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver robust reporting solutions.
- Integrate and automate data pipelines for risk data aggregation and reporting.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data quality, performance, and reporting accuracy.
- Document technical solutions and provide knowledge transfer to team members.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Strong proficiency in Python, with experience in data processing and automation.
- Extensive experience in SQL, including development and performance tuning in at least one major SQL dialect (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL).
- Hands-on experience with Athena and Databricks SQL environments.
- Solid understanding of data modeling, ETL processes, and reporting best practices.
- Experience with third-party SQL-based reporting platforms such as Cognos or Tableau.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Familiarity with risk management concepts and financial data.
- Experience working in Agile development environments.
- Knowledge of cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
