EDG IncJob Summary:
EDG TECH is looking for Automation Professionals tosupport exciting projects in the Specialty/Fine Chemical, Biotech, Pharma, Foodand Beverage, Beauty Care, and related industries. The Sr. Automation Professional Batch positionwill coordinate with the client process engineers to lead the process controlsdefinition effort during Front End Engineering Design and then supervise theexecution of the work during Detail Design. The candidate should be proficient in Batch Applications. The preferred candidate will be knowledgeableon DCS technology - Emerson, Honeywell, Rockwell, or similar.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Project Leadership
o Lead automation scope for assigned workstreams on large capital projects,ensuring alignment with applicable industrystandards, and client quality requirements.
o Serve as lead for batch automation, MES integration, and electronicworkflows, guiding project teams during FEED, detail design, FAT, SAT, andqualification phases.
o Develop project-specific automation execution plans, risk assessments,and design documents consistent with client requirements.
• CoreResponsibilities
o Architect, configure, and verify batch control strategies using ISA‑88 standards, including unit procedures, operations, phases, andrecipe management.
o Define and document process control functional and user requirements.
o Define and document software requirements and standards.
o Define and document requirements for MES functionality (e.g., EBR,workflows, genealogy, review-by-exception, equipment tracking).
o Support development of deliverables such as Functional Specs, DesignSpecs, Requirements Traceability Matrices, and test protocols.
• Automation Design,Testing & Execution
o Interpret, analyze, and redline P&IDs, process descriptions, userrequirement specifications, control narratives, and functional specificationsrelated to unit operations.
o Build and review complex logic for state‑based control, regulatory control, and advanced control strategies.
o Lead or support FAT/SAT execution, ensuring test evidence, deviations,and resolutions are documented in a compliant manner.
Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
• Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Bio-engineeringpreferred, but will consider other backgrounds pending the need such as Electrical/ComputerEngineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or similar discipline;
• Seven (7) or more years of technicalexperience designing and implementing control systems in facilities.
• Ten (10) or more years of total experience inthe automation industry.
• Technical hands-on knowledge of relatedengineering systems, engineering calculations, application of engineering andconstruction methods and materials, and engineering application of computer software.
• Desire to learnplant production processes, systems, and new technologies;
• Knowledge of project execution in automationprojects;
• Knowledge of industry / regulatory codes andstandards;
• Skill in oral and written communication;
• Strong organizational skills related toengineering activities.
Working Conditions:
• Work is primarily conducted in an officeenvironment but also requires occasional travel to off-site work locations.
• Field duties require outdoor work in aconstruction site or in plant type atmosphere.
• Interaction with other team members, as well assupervisors and client personnel;
• Working on a construction site or in plantand/or shop areas around production machinery with extreme noise levels
• Must be able to wear safety equipment asrequired by the safety department for personal protection;
• May be at more than one job site in a day andmust be able to tolerate climate changes;
• May be required to travel out of town on aperiodic basis.
Physical Requirements (With or without ReasonableAccommodation):
• Must be able to lift and carry five (20) pounds;
• Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing orother communication capabilities which permits employee to communicateeffectively;
• Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time;
• Sufficient vision or other powers of observationwhich permits employee to conduct analysis and investigations;
• Sufficient manual dexterity which permit theemployee to perform routine office duties;
• Sufficient personal mobility and physicalreflexes to perform office duties and travel when necessary to off-sitelocations.
