Description
Performance Responsibilities (Transportation Supervisor):
Oversee daily bus operations
Conform with all state laws and regulations regarding school transportation
Assign drivers and busses for extracurricular and/or field trips
Assign substitute drivers for regular routes
Inform drivers of schedule changes
Ensure that drivers complete required duties and report correctly and punctually; daily bus log, bus inspection checklist, emergency exit drills, cleaning of bus, etc.
Establish and assign routes
Take lead in new school bus purchase and acquisition
Maintain bus depreciation records
Inform and confer with superintendent regarding any safety and personnel concerns or complaints
Ride with and evaluate drivers annually regarding safe driving skills and proper operation of buses
Inspect roads during winter months to determine driving conditions; assist superintendent in determining whether or not to run buses during inclement weather.
Develop and implement preventive maintenance program.
Diagnose, repair, service, and maintain tools, equipment and supplies required for bus/vehicle maintenance
Maintain stock of parts, materials, tools, equipment and supplies required for bus/vehicle maintenance
Ensure bus phones are operational
Keep bus garage clean, secure, and safe
Organize required annual bus driver in-service training
Evaluate bus drivers annually
Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the superintendent.
Performance Responsibilities (Building Maintenance Supervisor):
Oversee the operation and maintenance of all motors and other mechanical equipment
Organize and oversee annual maintenance of boiler system and roof
Organize and oversee annual maintenance of fire alarm system
Perform minor plumbing, lighting, and electrical repairs
Assist superintendent in coordinating contractors providing facility maintenance and repair
Assist with snow removal
Assist in unloading and dispersal of freight shipments
Troubleshoot and make minor repairs to building facilities, furniture, and equipment as needed
Change light bulbs in school buildings, gym, and other school owned buildings
Work with building custodian and grounds keeper to complete minor repairs and projects
Report to superintendent any damages or major problems needing attention
Participate in school safety meetings as a member of the Sprague safety committee
Assist superintendent in conducting school safety drills throughout the school year
Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the superintendent
Requirements
Hold a valid
Hold a valid Class B CDL (bus driver) endorsement on your Washington State driver’s license
Ability to:
o perform minor repairs and service work on busses and other school vehicles
o use computer and internet to complete and file required reports
o perform general building repair and maintenance: plumbing, electrical, carpentry, etc.
o effectively use communication, math and organization skills necessary to perform essential job duties
o work with outside contractors on heating and mechanical systems (boilers)
o physically perform essential job duties and responsibilities.
