Description
VISITING LABORATORY INSTRUCTORThe Department of Chemistry at the University of Pittsburgh (Oakland Campus) invites applications for up to four (4) Visiting Laboratory Instructor positions with an anticipated start date of January 5, 2026. These positions are for one, four-month academic term (spring 2026, January - April 2026). These positions are outside of the tenure stream and will require administrative and budgetary approval. Review of applications will begin as soon as possible and will continue until the positions are filled. These positions are within the undergraduate teaching laboratory program, which has labs that begin at 8 am, 1 pm, and 6 pm. Visiting Laboratory Instructor duties will consist of teaching four laboratory and recitation sections a week (or equivalent), as well as other activities associated with these assignments (such as office hours, grading, etc.). Contributions to mentoring graduate student teaching assistants and assisting with the necessary administrative aspects of a vibrant and large laboratory instruction program are also expected of successful candidates.
Minimum qualifications: Applicants should have earned a minimum of a bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline from an accredited university. Candidates possessing a special awareness of chemical safety practices and with demonstrated experience teaching university chemistry laboratories are especially desirable.
