The Section of Cardiovascular Medicine at the Yale School of Medicine, in conjunction with the Yale New Haven Health System, is seeking a full-time Critical Care Cardiologist at the Assistant or Associate Professor level to serve as the Medical Director of Cardiac Critical Care. This position offers an exciting opportunity to join a nationally recognized academic cardiology program dedicated to excellence in patient care, medical education, and clinical research.
The successful candidate will lead an important element of our clinical practice while participating in the teaching and mentoring of medical students, residents, advanced practice providers and fellows within a collaborative academic environment.
Primary Responsibilities
Provide overall clinical leadership for Cardiac Intensive Care across the health system, with particular focus on the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) at Yale New Haven Hospital.
Serve as attending cardiologist in the dedicated Cardiac Intensive Care Units which provide critical care services to patients with acute cardiovascular conditions including acute myocardial infarction, acute decompensated heart failure, and unstable arrhythmias requiring advanced support including mechanical circulatory support devices.
Participate in consultative cardiology services and on-call rotations.
Contribute to subspecialty services (e.g., advanced heart failure, imaging, electrophysiology, interventional cardiology—based on expertise)
Teach and mentor trainees, including medical students, residents, advanced practice providers and fellows.
Engage in scholarly activity appropriate to career track (clinical research, clinical trials, quality improvement, medical education innovation, or translational collaboration).
Participate in institutional and departmental career development opportunities.
Requirements
Successful candidates must be fellowship-trained and either Board Certified in both Cardiovascular Medicine and Critical Care, as well as have a minimum of three years of experience providing cardiac intensive care in an academic setting. Candidates must meet criteria for appointment as an Assistant or Associate Professor of Medicine in the Academic Clinician (AC) or Clinician Educator Scholar Track (CES) and have an active unrestricted medical license in Connecticut or be eligible for licensure.
