Born in Bavaria, Germany in 1841, Caroline Rosenberg Kline Galland devoted her considerable energy and wealth to serving the poor of Seattle. It was said she never turned down a request for help. Individuals and charitable associations of many faiths, particularly organizations concerned with the care of the elderly and infirm, benefited from her generosity throughout her life.
