Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Health and Safety Manager to oversee safety operations at a HAZWOPER site. This role is critical in ensuring regulatory compliance, managing emergency response efforts, and fostering a culture of safety. The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical background, leadership capabilities, and excellent interpersonal skills to protect workers, the public, and the environment.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 and other applicable regulations.
Develop, implement, and maintain the Site Health and Safety Plan (HASP) and Emergency Response Plan (ERP).
Lead emergency response efforts including chemical spills, fires, and medical emergencies.
Serve as Incident Commander or Safety Officer during emergency events.
Conduct site inspections, risk assessments, and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs).
Deliver HAZWOPER and emergency response training to site personnel.
Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions.
Maintain accurate safety records and report performance metrics.
Collaborate with site supervisors, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related field or 8 years of related field and management experience
Minimum 5 years of experience in health and safety management, preferably in hazardous waste or emergency response environments.
Construction Safety Experience (civil and environmental preferred)
Cal/OSHA Title 8 knowledge
Current 40-hour HAZWOPER certification and 8-hour supervisor/refresher as applicable
Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and NFPA regulations.
Experience with emergency response planning and incident command systems (ICS).
Preferred Certifications:
Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor Certification
ICS/NIMS Training
