Overview

Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club is seeking a full-time 2nd Assistant Superintendent to support a fast-paced, hospitality-focused golf property. The role contributes to golf course maintenance operations with a strong emphasis on safety, regulatory compliance, chemical application, staff support, and environmental stewardship.

The position works regularly in wet or humid conditions, near moving mechanical parts, and frequently outdoors in varying weather conditions while wearing full-body safety equipment as needed.

Experience Required

• Bachelor's degree, Associate's degree (AA), or equivalent from a four- or two-year college or technical school; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Three to four years of related experience or training.
• Degree preference in agronomy, horticulture, plant science, or soil science.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Valid Pesticide Application License.

Essential Responsibilities

• Perform routine safety inspections on all spraying and fertilizer equipment.
• Read, understand, and keep current material safety data sheets (MSDS).
• Maintain chemical storage and mixing areas in compliance with governmental regulations.
• Ensure the safety and direction of chemical and fertilizer handlers and helpers.
• Maintain a log of applications and file related reports.
• Perform hand spraying and maintain proper mixing amounts and application techniques.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of chemicals and fertilizers being applied.
• Ensure proper calibration of all spraying and fertilizing equipment.
• Supervise and assist maintenance staff in daily duties.
• Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed, including compliance with government regulations.
• Ensure associates obtain proper licenses needed to perform job tasks safely and within city, state, and federal regulations.
• Directly address all real or perceived environmental concerns.
• Assist with interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, directing work, evaluating performance, rewarding, and disciplining associates; address complaints and resolve problems.
• Manage department members who may include, but are not limited to, Environmental Technician.
• Ensure effective orientation and training are given to each new associate and develop ongoing training programs.
• Monitor business volume forecast and plan accordingly in areas of manpower, productivity, costs, and other expenses.
• Incorporate safe work practices in job performance.
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
• Perform other duties as required.
