Description
Position OverviewThe Harris research group is seeking an Assistant Researcher to assist with collecting samples for water quality assessment in Kansas lakes with limnology equipment and in-lake sensors. The Assistant Researcher may also assist with laboratory analyses of water quality samples, such as collecting and analyzing harmful algal bloom (HAB) data.
Job Description
70% - Investigate and sample physical, chemical, and biological factors related to water quality in Kansas Waterbodies via on-lake buoys and shoreline water and sediment sampling.
30% - Develop figures, conduct statistical analyses, and write project reports.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED and four years of related experience OR bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Two years of experience collecting water and sediment samples from lakes or reservoirs.
- Six (6) months of experience working with on-lake buoys and their data.
- Six (6) months of experience working with Microsoft Excel, Word, and R studio.
