Job Summary
The B&B Mechanic/Vehicle Operator (CDL-A) is responsible for performing construction, maintenance, and repair work on railroad facilities and infrastructure while operating commercial vehicles to transport materials, equipment, and tools. The role requires experience in carpentry, masonry, steel work, and safe vehicle operation.
Key Responsibilities
Repair and construct structures including railings, doors, stairs, roofs, walls, and ceilings.
Perform carpentry, masonry, and steel fabrication/repair work.
Mix, pour, and finish concrete and mortar.
Install temporary structural supports during repair activities.
Rig steel for installation and removal.
Deliver construction materials, equipment, and tools using commercial vehicles.
Perform basic maintenance and running repairs on assigned vehicles.
Conduct daily vehicle inspections for safety and operational readiness.
Maintain a safe work environment and follow construction safety procedures.
Read and interpret construction documents, maintenance manuals, and safety instructions.
Travel to various work sites as required.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED.
Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL-A).
Experience in carpentry, masonry, and/or steel construction.
Clean driving record.
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Strong mathematical and mechanical aptitude.
Ability to read and interpret technical documents and safety procedures.
Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team.
Ability to pass background screening, physical examination, and drug screening.
