Description
Emergency and Critical Care Veterinarian
WAVES Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital | San Leandro, CA
Job Type: Full-time
A Little About Us
Washington Avenue Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital (WAVES) is a locally doctor-owned emergency and specialty hospital serving the East Bay, founded by longtime veterinary clinicians and leaders who previously built their careers at Bay Area Veterinary Specialists (BAVS). When BAVS closed its doors, our founding team came together to make sure the East Bay didn't lose access to high-quality emergency and specialty care.
As a locally owned hospital, decisions here are made by the doctors and leaders who actually practice medicine on our floor — not from a corporate office. WAVES operates in partnership with Curo Pet Care for administrative and operational support, which means our clinical team can stay focused on patient care while getting the backend support of a larger network.
Located in San Leandro, our hospital offers easy access to Oakland, Berkeley, and San Francisco — with the food, culture, and outdoor access of the greater Bay Area right outside our door.
You'll Never Practice Alone
At WAVES, our emergency and critical care service is backed by a full specialty team, including Internal Medicine, Oncology, and Surgery, working alongside us. Collaboration is central to how we practice — whether that's a quick hallway consult, shared case management, or hands-on mentorship from doctors who built their careers on this kind of teamwork.
You'll be supported by:
- Experienced ER and criticalist doctor
- Internal Medicine, Oncology, and Surgery specialty teams
- Highly skilled ICU-trained technicians and support staff
- A culture that encourages questions, learning, and teamwork
