Alila Ventana Big Sur is seeking an experienced, refined, and highly service-driven Food & Beverage Manager to support the resort's food and beverage operations. This role is responsible for assisting with the daily operation, service execution, colleague leadership, financial performance, and guest experience for the resort's dining outlets, bar operations, in-room dining, special culinary experiences, and related food and beverage activations.
Set within one of California's most iconic luxury resort destinations, Alila Ventana Big Sur offers a deeply personal and elevated guest experience rooted in nature, wellness, cuisine, and thoughtful hospitality. The Food & Beverage Manager must understand the expectations of a luxury resort environment and bring strong leadership across fine dining, elevated beverage service, resort outlets, and banquet or special event operations.
The ideal candidate is a polished food and beverage leader with previous resort experience, strong fine dining knowledge, banquet experience, and the ability to support teams in delivering exceptional, consistent, and memorable guest experiences.

Key Responsibilities
• Manage and support daily restaurant operations with primary focus on service execution, guest experience, colleague performance, and overall outlet readiness.
• Maintain a strong floor presence during breakfast, lunch, dinner, peak meal periods, VIP experiences, and special dining moments.
• Lead pre-shift meetings to communicate service priorities, menu updates, Forbes standards, VIP notes, guest preferences, dietary restrictions, and operational needs.
• Coach and train food and beverage colleagues on luxury service standards, Forbes-style service expectations, sequence of service, table maintenance, menu knowledge, wine and beverage service, and guest personalization.
• Observe service in real time and provide immediate feedback, guidance, and support to ensure polished, consistent, and thoughtful guest interactions.
• Ensure restaurant colleagues understand and execute refined service details, including greetings, pacing, language, anticipation of needs, table marking, beverage presentation, course delivery, clearing standards, and fond farewells.
• Partner with culinary leadership to ensure menu knowledge, dish presentation, timing, allergens, dietary accommodations, and guest preferences are clearly communicated to the service team.
• Support the training and development of servers, bartenders, hosts, server assistants, and other food and beverage colleagues.
• Assist with onboarding new colleagues and reinforcing service expectations through ongoing coaching, role modeling, and service observations.
• Monitor restaurant cleanliness, ambiance, table settings, service stations, uniforms, grooming, menus, lighting, music, and overall presentation to ensure luxury standards are met.
• Respond to guest questions, concerns, and service opportunities promptly and professionally, ensuring thoughtful service recovery and appropriate follow-up.
• Review guest feedback, Forbes-related service opportunities, online reviews, and operational trends to identify coaching and improvement opportunities.
• Support restaurant opening and closing procedures, shift assignments, side work completion, station readiness, and daily operational communication.
• Assist with scheduling, payroll review, labor deployment, inventory, ordering, and supply levels as assigned.
• Support bar and lounge service as needed, ensuring beverage standards, responsible alcohol service, and guest engagement are consistent with luxury expectations.
• Support in-room dining, private dining, or banquet service on occasion based on resort business needs, while maintaining primary focus on restaurant operations.
• Partner with stewarding, culinary, rooms, spa, engineering, and resort operations teams to ensure seamless service and timely resolution of operational needs.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, responsible alcohol service, health department requirements, resort policies, and safety procedures.
• Promote a positive, professional, inclusive, and accountable team environment.
• Represent Alila Ventana Big Sur with warmth, polish, discretion, and care in every guest and colleague interaction.
• Perform other duties as assigned by food and beverage leadership.
This is a salaried position with a compensation ranging from $80,000-$95,000.

Qualifications
• Previous food and beverage supervisory or management experience required.
• Previous experience in a fine dining restaurant, luxury hotel, luxury resort, or elevated hospitality environment strongly preferred.
• Experience working in a Forbes-rated property or with Forbes service standards strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of fine dining service, including sequence of service, table maintenance, menu knowledge, wine and beverage service, pacing, presentation, and guest personalization.
• Previous experience supporting restaurant, bar, lounge, in-room dining, banquet, private dining, or special event operations preferred.
• Ability to lead, coach, train, and support hourly food and beverage colleagues during daily service.
• Strong floor presence with the ability to assist with service execution, guest recovery, and colleague support in real time.
• Knowledge of luxury guest expectations, refined service language, Forbes standards, and attention to detail in a high-touch environment.
• Basic financial understanding, including labor control, inventory, revenue awareness, cost control, and daily operational reporting preferred.
• Excellent communication, organization, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to partner effectively with culinary, stewarding, events, rooms, spa, and resort operations teams.
• Knowledge of wine, spirits, cocktails, menu items, allergens, dietary restrictions, and responsible alcohol service preferred.
• Experience with point-of-sale systems, scheduling systems, payroll systems, guest feedback platforms, and Microsoft Office preferred.
• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, responsible alcohol service, and applicable local regulations required.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and business-demand periods.
