The Task Force Food & Beverage Manager plays a critical role in the leadership and execution of our resort's food and beverage operations. Reporting to the Director of Food & Beverage, this role oversees multiple outlets and ensures operational consistency and exceptional guest service across the resort.
- The Outlets
- SurHouse: Perched high above the Pacific where the forest, mountains, and sea converge, The Sur House at Alila Ventana Big Sur offers a dining experience that celebrates both the spirit and the bounty of California's Central Coast. This ocean-view restaurant brings together rustic elegance, modern technique, and locally sourced ingredients to create cuisine that feels both familiar and deeply inspired by place.
- SurStream: Set amongst a grove of ancient redwood trees, this custom-designed mini Airstream offers hand-made pizzas and salads, cocktails, beer, wine and gelato to nourish your weekend adventure.
- In Room Dining: offers seasonal California coastal cuisine delivered right to your suite throughout the day, with breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and even late-night options included as part of the all-inclusive experience. It lets you enjoy the resort's locally inspired menus in the privacy and comfort of your room.
- Pool: poolside dining lets you enjoy seasonal, California-inspired lunch and beverage service right by the water with items from the resort's menu available throughout the day.
- Events & Banquets: custom catering and expert planning support for weddings, corporate retreats, and private gatherings, offering bespoke, seasonally inspired menus created by the resort's culinary team to suit receptions, seated dinners, and cocktail events across indoor and outdoor venues.
This leader collaborates across departments, drives service excellence, and plays an active role in maintaining the standards required of a Forbes-rated and Michelin-recognized property.
Assignment Details & Compensation
- Role: Task Force Food & Beverage Manager (Temporary, Full-Time)
- Assignment Length: a minimum 60 days
- Salary Range: $80,000-$93,000 annually (prorated for the duration of the taskforce assignment).
- Benefits: Onsite housing, travel expenses, and all meals are provided for the duration of the assignment.

Qualifications
• Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in food and beverage leadership, preferably within a luxury resort or fine dining setting
• Proven ability to lead multi-outlet operations and manage high-performing teams
• Deep understanding of luxury service standards and Forbes inspection criteria; prior experience in a Michelin- or Forbes-rated property preferred
• Certifications in Food Safety and Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) strongly preferred
• Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency with POS systems, restaurant management software, and Microsoft Office Suite
Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand or walk for extended periods
• Comfortable working in fast-paced environments, including exposure to heat and humidity
• Must be available to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
