Java Engineer | Elite Asset Management Team | Hong Kong

I'm working with a leading global asset manager that's hiring a Java Engineer for its expanding Hong Kong technology team. You'll build modern services supporting trading, accounts, payments, settlement, reconciliation, and other business-critical workflows.

This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of high-impact systems within a well-established investment business undergoing significant technology growth.

What You'll Be Doing

1. Design and build production-grade backend services using Java or Python.
2. Develop microservices, RESTful APIs, gRPC services, and system integrations.
3. Build solutions supporting trading, accounts, payments, and post-trade processing.
4. Develop workflows across settlement, reconciliation, cash management, and reporting.
5. Work with product, business, frontend, mobile, infrastructure, and DevOps teams.
6. Improve system performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
7. Own delivery from technical design through deployment and production support.

What We're Looking For

1. 3+ years of commercial development experience in Java or Python backend engineering.
2. Proficient in microservices, APIs, scheduled jobs, or batch-processing systems.
3. Strong SQL skills and experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, or similar databases.
4. Solid foundations in object-oriented design, data structures, and clean code.
5. Experience within securities, trading, wealth management, or financial services.
6. Knowledge of middle-office or back-office workflows.
7. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

Nice to Have

1. Experience with distributed, high-concurrency, or highly available systems.
2. Exposure to low-latency trading or real-time data platforms.
3. Knowledge of GraphQL, MongoDB, or other NoSQL databases.
4. Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Prefect or Luigi.
5. Familiarity with modern CI/CD and Agile development practices.
