Position Overview
Phoenix Children’s is seeking a Medical Director of Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) to lead a nationally recognized program. Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care
- Provide high-quality outpatient and inpatient care to adult congenital heart disease patients.
- Deliver inpatient ACHD care at Phoenix Children’s and Dignity–St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans.
Program Leadership & Strategy
- Serve as Medical Director for the ACHD program with strategic vision and clinical oversight.
- Lead program growth initiatives, quality improvement efforts, and innovation in ACHD care delivery.
- Maintain and advance ACHA Accredited Comprehensive Care Center standards.
- Represent the ACHD program internally and externally at institutional, regional, and national levels.
Education & Mentorship
- Teach and mentor medical students, residents, pediatric cardiology fellows, and adult cardiovascular disease fellows.
- Support faculty development and foster a collaborative academic environment.
Research & Advocacy
- Participate in and/or lead ACHD-focused research initiatives.
- Engage in statewide and national advocacy efforts.

- Largest ACHD program in Arizona and the state’s only ACHA Accredited Comprehensive Care Center
- 26 cardiologists
- 15 cardiac intensivists
- 3 cardiovascular surgeons
- 21 advanced practice providers
Ambulatory cardiac services are provided throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area, with outreach clinics across greater Arizona. Inpatient ACHD care occurs at Phoenix Children’s and at Dignity–St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center, a major academic medical center that includes the Norton Thoracic Institute and Barrow Neurological Institute.

Qualifications
- MD or equivalent degree
- Board certified in Pediatric Cardiology (American Board of Pediatrics)
- Board certified in Adult Congenital Heart Disease (American Board of Internal Medicine)
- Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in the State of Arizona
- Demonstrated leadership experience or strong interest in medical directorship and program development
Academic Affiliation
Phoenix Children’s Hospital is affiliated with the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix. ACHD cardiologists hold academic appointments within the Divisions of Child Health and Internal Medicine.
