Operator/Laborer - 2nd Avenue, New Kensington & Neville Island Asphalt Plants

As an Operator/Laborer, you'll be hands-on in the production of asphalt, working with power tools, heavy equipment, and a crew that takes real pride in what rolls out of these plants. If you like variety, want to build mechanical and welding skills, and don't mind getting your hands dirty, this is a great place to grow.

What you'll actually be doing:
- Handling construction aggregates and materials like sand and gravel
- Working with hands and power tools - gas, electric, and compressed air
- Operating mobile equipment: sweeper, forklift, bobcat, yard truck, water truck, and more
- Helping with preventative maintenance and repairs on plant equipment and vehicles - including welding
- Keeping plant areas clean and organized
- Pitching in wherever the team needs an extra hand
What you bring:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of plant production experience with construction aggregates (sand, gravel, or similar)
- Welding ability required
- Solid communication skills - able to read signs/signals and follow instructions, spoken and written
- Willingness to join the union local and pass a pre-employment drug test

Physical requirements include: Must have correctable vision with reasonably good night vision. Must be able to lift and carry 50 to 100 lbs. occasionally and /or 25 to 50 lbs. frequently and/or 10 to 20 lbs. constantly to move objects. Requires manual dexterity and ability to bend, twist, turn, stretch, squat, kneel, sit and stand for extended periods. Must be able to work in elevated, enclosed and sometimes hazardous areas in changing weather conditions.
