Job DescriptionJob DescriptionSafety OfficerThe Safety Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and compliant environment for students, staff, and visitors. This position integrates physical security functions with occupational safety responsibilities, ensuring enforcement of all laws, regulations, and policies while promoting a culture of safety and accountability. The Officer supports student development by modeling appropriate behavior aligned with Career Success Standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Enforce all applicable laws, regulations, and center policies related to safety, security, and compliance.
· Ensure compliance with OSHA standards, DOL guidelines, Job Corps PRH requirements, and organizational policies and procedures.
· Conduct routine patrols, monitor alarm systems, and perform building inspections to maintain a safe and secure environment.
· Identify, assess, and respond to safety hazards, suspicious activities, security threats, and emergency situations.
· Conduct safety inspections and hazard assessments; implement corrective and preventive measures as needed.
· Monitor and enforce the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in all applicable areas.
· Assists security team in times of high volume visitor and/or student activity to the facility by monitoring entry and exit points, issuing visitor passes, and enforcing access procedures.
· In times of security vacancies, provide coverage as requested by supervisor.
· Provide escort services for staff, students, and visitors as required.
· Investigate incidents, complaints, accidents, and injuries; ensure appropriate action, documentation, and follow-up.
· Prepare, maintain, and submit accurate reports and logs, including incident, accident, and daily activity documentation.
· Process and maintain student and staff accident and injury reports in accordance with regulatory requirements.
· Advise management of safety, security, and health concerns and recommend corrective actions.
· Facilitate and participate in safety meetings, training sessions, and emergency preparedness activities.
· Promote safety awareness through training, campaigns, and recognition programs to reduce incidents and injuries.
· Enforce center pass policies and support disciplinary procedures in accordance with established standards, including zero tolerance policies.
· Maintain accountability for staff, students, visitors, and property while ensuring a safe, secure, and orderly environment.
· Maintain effective working relationships with local law enforcement and emergency response agencies.
· Assist with reception, control center operations, communication systems, and transportation support as assigned.
· Provide general assistance and support to students, staff, and visitors in a professional manner.
· Serve as a positive role model by reinforcing safe practices, professionalism, and Career Success Standards.
· Support and maintain a center culture free from harassment, intimidation, bullying, and unsafe behaviors.
· Participate in required training, certifications, and continuous professional development.
· Maintain operational proficiency in security functions by working a minimum of two (2) shifts in a security officer role and providing coverage as needed to support operational requirements, as determined by management.
· Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
• High School Graduate or equivalent.
• Prefer three to six months experience in a safety or work-related capacity.
• Certified CPR/First Aid facilitator or willingness to become a CPR/First Aid facilitator within the first 30 days of hire.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record preferred.
Additional Requirements: Knowledge of safety procedures. Must obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid Certification. Ability to effectively relate to trainee population. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Position requires an ability to operate office equipment and drive an automobile. In addition, an individual must be able to interact with team members and maintain an effective working relationship with all facility staff and departments.
