Job Overview
Rick Shipman Construction is looking for an aspiring Safety Specialists—a pivotal role in ensuring the well-being and security of our workplace environment. As a Safety Specialist, you will be at the forefront of protecting employees, overseeing compliance with safety regulations, and implementing preventative measures to mitigate risks.
Safety Specialist Responsibilities & Duties
Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards.
Develop and implement safety policies and procedures.
Provide safety training and education to employees.
Investigate accidents and incidents to determine their causes.
Recommend corrective actions to prevent future incidents.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations.
Maintain records and documentation related to safety activities.
Coordinate with other departments to address safety concerns.
Evaluate equipment and processes to ensure safety standards are met.
Respond to emergencies and provide first aid when necessary.
Prepare and present safety reports to management.
Monitor and enforce the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Lead safety committee meetings and initiatives.
Assist in developing emergency response plans.
Requirements
Safety Specialist Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, or related field.
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar certification.
5+ years of experience in a safety-related role.
Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations.
Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
Experience with safety management systems.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail.
Proficient in conducting safety training sessions.
Knowledge of safety inspection and auditing techniques.
Physical ability to perform inspections in various environments.
Basic understanding of first aid and emergency response procedures.
Good organizational and time management skills.
Conditions of Employment
Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
Ability to travel to our jobsites throughout the United States.
Commercial Construction experience preferred.
