Facility: Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - AustinShift/Status: Full Time, 36 hrs/wk *(This is a seasonal 13 week contract)*
Schedule: Day Shift (7am - 7pm)
*This is a mixed acuity unit- ideal candidates must have at minimum 2 years of direct ICU experience and must be willing to take med/surg, tele, IMC, and ICU assignments as required *
Main Nursing Unit
Patient Population: Medical Surgical, Orthopedics, Intermediate Care, Critical Care
*# of beds: 24
Patient Ratios: Med Surg/Tele - 1:4/5, Progressive Care/Intermediate Care - 1:3, Intensive Care - 1:2

Baylor Scott & White - Austin features a 24-bed Main Nursing Unit which is a blended unit with three levels of acuity and operates from a multidisciplinary approach in providing the highest standards of nursing care to patients and families. The facility also offers 24/7 emergency services (an 8-bed Emergency Department) and surgical services (offering adult and pediatric surgeries).

Job Summary As a Seasonal RN, you align with our nursing model, manage patient care, evaluate, recognize, create, implement care plans. Monitor patient progress is also vital. Your knowledge will help patients navigate the healthcare system safely, reducing complications. You will use your expertise to understand patient needs and the healthcare environment.
Essential Functions of the Role
• Using good judgment and clinical reasoning, conduct thorough assessments following practice standards.
• Identify patient and family needs, then develop, implement, and evaluate nursing care plans accordingly. Make adjustments as needed.
• Creating safe, therapeutic environments for patients, families, and staff.
• Managing emotional and physical pain to promote recovery and prevent unnecessary suffering.

• Effective communication skills to articulate thoughts clearly and interact with diverse groups of people.
• Proficient problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills to provide quality patient care.

Qualifications
• A degree from a recognized nursing program or two years of relevant work experience
• A minimum of (1) one year's experience in the field of nursing
• A valid Registered Nurse license
• The ability to obtain a Basic Life Support certification within the first 30 days of employment.
