About the Opportunity:
The Senior Human Resources Business Partner (SHRBP) is an important advisor and trusted partner for leaders and staff in the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. Reporting to the Employee and Labor Relations Manager, this person works closely with the Employee and Labor Relations team to offer expert guidance on difficult employee and labor issues. The SHRBP also helps improve organizational effectiveness and supports workforce planning that aligns with the County’s goals. In addition, this role helps create and provide training for managers and supervisors to strengthen leadership skills and ensure policies are applied fairly and consistently.
Ideal Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
Knowledge of employee and labor relations, including how to understand and apply union contracts and County policies.
Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and how they apply in complicated workplace situations.
Skill in conducting and advising on detailed workplace investigations, including gathering facts, reviewing information, and giving clear recommendations.
Skill in advising and influencing leaders on sensitive and high risk employee issues, while considering legal rules, operational needs, and organizational goals.
Ability to understand complex problems, use good judgment, and make strong decisions in stressful situations.
Skill in resolving conflict, mediating disagreements, and solving problems in difficult or tense environments.
Skill in creating and providing training for managers and supervisors on HR topics, policies, and best practices.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Public Administration, Business Administration or Management, or other related degree program from an accredited institution of higher education; AND four (4) years of professional level human resources experience related to the position; OR
An Associate Degree in Human Resources, Public Administration, Business Administration or Management, or other related degree program; AND six (6) years of professional level human resources experience related to the position; OR
A high school diploma/GED; AND eight (8) years of professional level human resources experience related to the position.
Preferred Requirements
Professional certifications such as Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), or other HR discipline specific specialties.
Additional Requirements
Must pass a criminal background check.
