- Sr. Manager - PMO Governance

About the Role:
We are seeking a strategic and experienced Manager, Project Management Governance to lead the governance,
standards, and continuous improvement of project management and project controls across the organization.
This role plays a critical leadership function in ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in compliance
with regulatory and organizational standards. You will drive enterprise-wide governance frameworks, oversee
quality assurance and risk management practices, and lead a team of professionals to support operational
excellence and long-term performance.
What You’ll Do
Governance & Process Leadership
- Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of project management and project controls
frameworks - Oversee the development and adoption of standards, procedures, and methodologies
- Ensure governance documentation remains current, compliant, and aligned with best practice
Project Lifecycle & Stage Gate Oversight
- Govern stage gate processes, including reviews, evaluations, and recommendations
- Support development of project charters and business cases
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Lead audits and quality assurance reviews to ensure compliance and identify risks
- Maintain and update QA plans and frameworks
- Ensure consistent application of regulatory and industry standards
Leadership & Talent Development
- Lead and develop a specialized team, including subordinate managers and SMEs
- Set performance objectives, support career development, and drive workforce planning
- Oversee recruitment and build high-performing, engaged teams
Strategic Execution
- Translate organizational strategy into actionable plans across teams
- Provide expert input into enterprise planning and decision-making
- Manage budgets and provide financial guidance for medium- to long-term priorities
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and influence relationships with senior leaders and external partners
- Represent the organization in industry forums, committees, and partnerships
- Communicate complex concepts clearly to drive alignment and decisions
Risk Management & Continuous Improvement
- Lead risk identification, mitigation strategies, and contingency planning
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement initiatives
- Promote a culture of safety, operational integrity, and excellence
What You Bring
Education & Experience
- Undergraduate degree in Engineering or Science (Electrical, Industrial, or Process preferred)
- 8+ years of experience in project management or governance
- 5+ years of leadership experience managing teams
- Experience in utilities or heavy industry (e.g., power, oil & gas, mining, manufacturing)
Certifications (Preferred)
- PMP, AACE, PQS
- Lean, Six Sigma, KAIZEN, or similar methodologies
Technical Expertise
- Strong knowledge of project management, project controls, QA, and compliance frameworks
- Experience leading audits, risk assessments, and governance reviews
- Understanding of regulatory requirements in large-scale industrial environments
Leadership & Interpersonal Skills
- Proven ability to lead high-performing technical teams
- Strong communication and stakeholder influencing skills at senior levels
- Strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
Working Conditions
- Hybrid work model with primarily office-based work
- Occasional travel (approximately 15–25%) to project sites and partner locations
- Quarterly site visits; ability to work in industrial environments with PPE
- Flexibility to support critical milestones, including occasional evenings/weekends
