Travel Required: 25% domestic travel required to Marysville OH, Dallas Fort Worth, TX and metro Detroit area.
Experience: 5 years of expereince with Autonomous Control Systems, ADAS, Automotive, Class 8 Trucks, or related. Requires skills and experience in the following:
Demonstrated experience with vehicle testing and data analysis, including use and customization of automotive specific tools.
Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing and troubleshooting CAN network architectures.
Proficiency in Vector tool: CANAlyzer for testing, data acquisition and troubleshooting of vehicle level systems and components.
Knowledge of developing DVPs (Design validation plans) for automotive sub-systems and components based on system level requirements.
Demonstrated experience in designing and executing experiments on electrical, mechanical, and software systems, including vehicle level testing of fail operational/redundant systems.
Knowledge of various test modalities that can be used to test mechatronic systems including HiL, and Unit Test to specify a particular modality given the test objective.
Demonstrated experience in organizing and analyzing large quantities of data, track results, and maintaining repeatable test setups through clear documentation and automation of processes (e.g. batch data plotting, automated test sequences, verification progress dashboards).
Demonstrated experience in managing requirements and verification databases.
Job duties: Work hands-on at the interface of the Aurora Driver and vehicle platforms, operating with a high degree of independence to provide technical direction and influence cross-functional decisions. Prioritize and coordinate work across teams, exercising judgment with minimal oversight to support vehicle platform integration and performance objectives. Develop, analyze, prototype, and test new vehicle and drive-by-wire system architectures for Level 4 autonomous vehicles. Independently design technical solutions to satisfy product and engineering requirements, drive cross-functional alignment, evaluate alternatives, and document technical decisions with minimal direct supervision. Provide vehicle-specific functional integration support for Aurora’s evolving hardware kit generations, independently managing integration priorities, technical roadmaps, and rollout strategies to support fleetwide implementation. Develop and execute on-vehicle test plans aligned with Aurora’s vehicle platform requirements, including functional and interface verification, fault injection, and performance characterization. Provide cross-functional technical leadership by defining test priorities, reviewing results, coordinating stakeholders, and identifying technical gaps and mitigation strategies. Investigate fleet field issues and collaborate cross-functionally with Aurora teams and OEM partners to identify technical or operational mitigations. Drive continuous improvement initiatives, proactively resolve issues, and develop tools and processes to improve fleet performance and operational readiness. Own and deliver technical evidence supporting Aurora’s Safety Case claims related to vehicle platform safety and performance for driverless applications. Exercise broad responsibility for planning, execution, and risk assessment activities, while independently generating technical analyses and recommendations to support safety and regulatory objectives.
