- Strategic Planning Analyst
Description
This position provides strategic planning and business development support, including business planning, market research, data mining, customized analysis, and well-synthesized and presented findings. This position is responsible for the accuracy of measurement tracking and analysis of internal and external data, and other predictive indicators of the competitive environment for the system. The incumbent must demonstrate project management skills, working knowledge of the MS Office suite, experience with using analytic tools, and a basic understanding of diagnosis and procedure coding systems (MSDRG, ICD-10, CPT). Experience with using the MIDB/MODB (Data Koala), mapping software, and commercial claims data is preferred.
Bachelor’s degree required. Preferably in Business, Healthcare Management, Economics, or a Quantitative Discipline. Plus 1-3 years of experience in a strategy or quantitative analytics role or equivalent combination, Healthcare experience preferred.
Other Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated an intermediary level of proficiency in MS Office, particularly in PowerBI, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with using analytics tools, preferably the Michigan Inpatient Database (known as Data Koala), Sg2 Analytics (AMS, Patient Flow, Demographics, Forecasting, etc.), and geographic information systems (GIS programs).
- Basic understanding of diagnosis and procedure coding systems (MSDRG, ICD-10, CPT).
- Demonstrated quantitative, analytical, problem-solving, communication/writing, project management skills.
- Must possess strong attention to detail, be proactive, and ability to work with highly sensitive and confidential information.
- Customer-focused work ethic, team player, and ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects with minimal oversight.
- Ability to interact with all internal and external stakeholders with tact and good judgment.
- Self-motivation is essential.
- Knowledge of root cause analysis and process improvement techniques preferred.
Ability to view computer screens and attend to small detail work for intermittent periods.
Hand/eye coordination. Motor skills. Repetitive motion associated with computer usage. Lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling up to 10 pounds. Ability to sit/stand for extended periods of time. Good eyesight as work is overwhelmingly visual.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Data mine large datasets from planning tools (e.g., Data Koala, Epic Slicer Dicers, SG2 Analytics), collect and synthesize information from a variety of sources, interpret findings, and produce materials (business cases, dashboards, presentations) with actionable insights to aid decision making.
- Develop, maintain, and update systems and databases to inform effective decision-making.
- Maintain data accuracy, analytic integrity, and reporting.
- Perform ongoing profiling and monitoring of Bronson’s market areas to identify intelligence.
- Create and maintain data visualizations using available applications (PowerBI, MS Excel, Maptitude GIS).
- Completes tasks in a proactive manner, actively seeks ways to produce high quality, efficient work; responds promptly to assignments and tasks as requested and keeps commitments to deadlines; Supports department team members and associated work streams.
- Complete routine and ad hoc projects as assigned (e.g., focus groups, annual surveys, market newsletter, market research, service line plans, environmental scans, etc.)
- Other duties as assigned by the leader.
